Taj Mahal?? and two faces? Sounds quite weird, doesn’t it?

There wouldn’t be a person on the surface of the earth who would be unaware of the legend of Taj Mahal. “Taj Mahal” that we know, only has a story of love and dedication to tell. It legend speaks about the endless love of a Mughal emperor for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, a master piece of art, the perfection of the countless craftsmen involved, years of hardwork and the breathtaking beauty of the enormous structure.

Taj Mahal speaks of a sad story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. It was built by Shah Jahan to immortalize his dearest wife,Mumtaz Mahal, who was him companion for 19 long years and expired in 1631 during a childbirth. The Emperor decided to build a magnificiant mausoleum for his beloved wife and hence, the best architects all over the world, including all of Asia and also Europe were involved in the designing of the structure but chief architect was probably Ustad Ahmad Lahawrī, an Indian of Persian descent.

Taj has got its due of admiration and appreciation for different parts of world. To name a few, “one of the seven wonders of the world”,”UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983”.

But, beyond this does the monument speak ONLY of a sad love story or is there something the world has to take a look at? Is it really a mausoleum built by an emperor for his wife or is it something else? Does the enormous structure hold a secret of its size in itself?

A different story has been given by Professor P.N. Oak, author of Taj Mahal: The True Story,  who believes that the whole world has been DUPED for this long. He claims that the Taj Mahal is NOT a Queen’s tomb, but an ancient Hindu temple palace of Lord Shiva  (which was then known as Tejo Mahalaya), worshipped by the Rajputs of Agra city. This palace was under Maharaja of Jaipur, Jai Singh until the Shah Jahan took the possession of it, forcefully. It is supposed that the captured temples are used as tombs for the royal courtiers

Evidence he provides are

1)      The carbon dating results of door, that faces the river Yamuna, show that the door dates 300 years ahead of the reign of  Shah Jahan

2)      European traveller Johan Albert Mandelslo, who visited Agra in 1638 (only seven years after Mumtaz's death), describes the life of the city in his memoirs, but makes no reference to the Taj Mahal being built.

3)      None of the famous muslim chronicles such as  Wakiyat Jahangiri by Emperor Jahangir,Shahjahan-nama by Enayet Khan,Tarikh-i- Mufajjali by Mufajjal Khan, Mirat-i-Alam by Bakhtyar Khan mentioned about Taj Mahal in them except for the Badshahnama by Abdul Hamid Lahori where it was mentioned but as a possession of Jai Singh

4)       A close look at upper portion of the pinnacle looks like a Hindu horizontal crescent and the coconut top together look like a trident from the garden level. Islamic crescents are always oblique. This Hindu pinnacle had all these centuries been misinterpreted as an Islamic crescent and star or a lightning conductor installed by the British. The word "Allah" etched here by Shah Jahan is absent in the courtyard replica.

5)      Barhanpur is a very ancient historic city on the Central Railway between Khandwa and Bhusawal junctions. It has an ancient Hindu royal palace captured by the Moghuls. Mumtaz died here while she and Shahjahan were camping here. She is said to be buried in a Hindu pavilion in front of this palace.

6)      There are 22 locked rooms which were closed at the time of Shah Jahan and have not been opened since then and many secrets lie inside them and they contain the  beheaded Shiva statue and also many other objects used for rituals in Hindu temples

The publication of Oak was withdrawn from the stores by the Indira Gandhi government so as to avoid political problems. Hence, many of what he claims are left the way they are without much research happening on it.

Will the Indian government ever give the researchers to enter the mausoleum and do a study and throw some light on the reality? May be not. If the government allows the archeologists to enter the tomb and allow them to open the closed doors, many facts may come to light regarding the authencity of the Emperor to be the builder of Taj.But,this isn’t going to be a cake walk for a present government or that matter, any that is yet to come.

The reasons being

 1) Would there be no opposition or pressure from the other political parties or would it not hurt the religious feelings of the Muslim brotherhood in the country?

2) Taj is a “World Heritage Site” and the research work on it may damage the monument, Would it not be a tough task to handle the angst of the general public of India , for the central and local government of India and also the UNESCO?

3) If in case,it is proved that it is a Hindu temple, would it not be an origin for communal and religious differences and a reason enough for riots?

Many questions remain unanswered, many things remain unknown, many secrets remain unfolded, many stories remain untold, many  facts remain explained. When will the darkness fade away and will Taj tell us a new story that it had buried in itself for centuries? No one, apart from time can answer these questions precisely.

Dont expect that the things that i've stated here are true. it is a conspiracy theory. nothing hasn't proved yet.so,  Until the time finds an answer to the numerous doubts we have, Taj will remain as an epitome of love, dedication and perfection and to astonish its visitors with its magical beauty and make them say nothing less or more than Wah Taj!!!
